Merry Christmas

Christmas is…….

Christmas is_______________________.  We all get to fill in that blank.  To some Christmas is a special time.  A time off work, a break from school.  A time to decorate the house and get ready for guests and parties.  For some it is a sad time because of the loss of a loved one.  Other s might say that Christmas is a hassle, a hum-bug.

Christmas is many things to many people.  But there is only one true reason for the season.  To celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, Son of God.

Luke Chapter 2 reads “8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watchd over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. 15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherdse said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.”

The shepherds exhibited wisdom that many people today do not seem to have.  After they heard the news of Christ’s birth, they left where they were, and went to see.  God has made this news about the birth of Christ known all over the world.  Yet so many never go “See this thing which is come to pass”.

Have you ever “gone to see”?  Have you ever received the Gift that God has given to you?  If not, why not?  If not, WHY NOT NOW?

.How Do I Become a Christian?

All of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory God had in store for us. Sin separates us from our Heavenly Father, so He sent His only Son to earth to atone for our sins by dying on the cross. Deciding to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior is the most important decision anyone can ever make, because at the end of life those without Jesus are doomed to live in damnation — Hell — for all eternity.

If your life suddenly ended today, do you know where you would spend eternity? Don’t put off this decision another second. Take your Bible (or borrow one from a friend) and learn how to become a Christian by following the outline below.

If you don’t have a Bible or can’t understand the Plan of Salvation, visit a local Baptist church and ask the pastor to assist you.

Simply share the following prayer with God in your own words:

1. Lord, I admit that I need you. (I have sinned.)

2. I want forgiveness for my sins and freedom from eternal death. (I repent.)

3. I believe Jesus died and rose from the grave to forgive my sins and to restore my relationship with you. (I believe in Jesus.)

4. By faith, I invite Jesus Christ into my life. From this time on, I want to live in a loving relationship with Him. (I receive Christ as my Savior and Lord.)

“But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in his name.” (John 1:12)
